Letter: Sam Nestor for State Senate

To the Editor:

I am writing to detail my experience working with Sam Nestor, our current Democratic candidate running to be State Senator in the CT-26. I began working in Connecticut local politics the summer before going off to college and really enjoyed getting involved in my community.

Getting to hear what was troubling voters and their main priorities for the state helped better inform me about the world around me, and what makes a good leader that voters can have confidence in. Sam Nestor is the epitome of what I’ve learned makes a great leader.

Sam values every voter, no matter their party, because she is running to be the representative for everyone in the 26th district — not just Democrats. Sam wants to give everyone a voice, as she focuses on making Connecticut more affordable for all of her constituents.

Ensuring everyone can live, thrive, and access care the way they desire is incredibly important, and she has the support of countless endorsements from organizations who believe she is the candidate that will bring this necessary change to our community.

As a mother of two, Sam also knows firsthand the importance of education in Connecticut and the impact it has on our students. Sam wants to empower all students no matter their path after high school and is working to promote and support all possible pathways after high school. Sam is also actively working to protect civil liberties within Connecticut school districts, such as free speech and protecting our libraries from detrimental book bans.

Sam is not only concerned about the lives of adults worrying about housing and healthcare, but the young adults who see a concerning global landscape and are scared for what their future may hold. This summer, I got to work with some of these young adults Sam is working to empower. Sam listened to our concerns, values our opinions, and took the time to listen to what we had to say so she can best support us in the future.

My experience working with Sam as a candidate and knowing her as a person makes me confident to say that without a doubt, she will be the State Senator who will stay honest and true to her platform and values, taking into account the concerns of everyone within the 26th district, no matter who they are. To Sam, every single voter is important and deserves to be supported as best they can in the wonderful state of Connecticut we get to call home.
