Mark Twain Book Fair, Labor Day Weekend
The 65th annual Mark Twain Library Book Fair takes place on all four days of Labor Day weekend, featuring more than 60,000 selections in a variety of categories, geared to all ages.
It all happens at the Redding Community Center, 37 Lonetown Road (Route 107) in Redding, on Friday, September 4 through Monday, September 7.
Entry is free, except for the first hour on Friday morning, when early birds can get first dibs for $20.
Highlights include a large collection of fiction and nonfiction audio books, a variety of fiber art and sculpture books, foreign language books for children, language instruction for children in French and English, young adult nonfiction, graphic novels, bird identification books from all over the world, and plant identification books.
Also Emily Dickinson poetry, biography and letters, many of the Great Courses series, a collection of Wizard of Oz early editions, several books on the history of fire engines, and a Sanskrit grammar.
As always, the fair also features vinyl records, CDs, DVDs, sheet music, games, and puzzles.
Days and hours
- Friday, September 4 29: 9:00 – 4:00. 9:00 to 10:00 is reserved for early birds, who pay a $20 admission fee.
- Saturday, September 5: 10:00 – 4:00.
- Sunday, September 6: 10:00 – 4:00. On Sunday, books are sold at half price.
- Monday, September 7: 9:00 – 4:00. On Monday, shoppers can fill an entire box for just $10. A box is provided.
Credit cards are accepted. Food trucks are available. Parking is free, and the venue is wheelchair accessible.
The Book Fair is an important fundraising event for the Mark Twain Library, which was started by Mark Twain more than 100 years ago as a place for the community to gather and to build on his literary legacy.
