National Treasure, Under the Stars

This year’s Movie Under the Stars features “National Treasure,” the 2004 hit adventure starring Nicolas Cage as a historian searching for a fabled treasure.

The free event from the Weston Commission for the Arts takes place on Saturday, August 29, outdoors on the Weston Middle School field.

The movie screens at 8:00, but at 6:00 the show opens with a performance by the popular local band Good Godfrey. A pizza truck will be on hand with food and beverages.

In the film, Mr. Cage plays Benjamin Franklin Gates, who learns about a treasure passed down from ancient times to the Knights Templar, Founding Fathers, and Freemasons. It is hidden somewhere in America, and clues to its whereabouts are scattered all over the country.

Eventually, Gates and his crew must race against a team of mercenaries to steal the Declaration of Independence, which may contain the final piece of the puzzle.

“National Treasure” also stars Diane Kruger, Justin Bartha, Sean Bean, Jon Voight, Harvey Keitel, and Christopher Plummer.
