Weston Police Arrest Caretaker

On August 6, Weston Police arrested a Weston resident’s caretaker on charges of third-degree larceny and third-degree forgery.

Carlen Dixon, of Bridgeport, was detained by the Waterbury Police after a motor vehicle stop where officers determined that an active arrest warrant had been issued by Weston, the result of an investigation into allegations of financial misconduct by Ms. Dixon while performing her caretaker services.

Weston officers were dispatched to Waterbury, took custody of Ms. Dixon, and processed her on the charges. The police report that she was unable to post the $50,000 court-set bond and was held for arraignment at Stamford Superior Court on August 7.

Third-degree larceny is a Class D felony, carrying penalties up to five years in prison, a fine up to $5,000, or both, and possible probation and mandatory restitution.

Third-degree forgery is a Class B misdemeanor. The maximum penalties include up to six months in jail, a fine up to $1,000, and up to one year of probation.

The police also report that, “due to the circumstances surrounding the investigation,” referrals were made to the Connecticut Department of Social Services (DSS), whose Protective Services for the Elderly program investigates abuse, neglect, and exploitation of residents aged 60 and older, and to “the appropriate state licensing authorities for review.”
