Preschool Holds Shoe Drive

A shoe drive by Weston’s St. Francis of Assisi Preschool aims to raise funds to complete a major playground renovation by turning donated footwear into cash.

The preschool has already finished the first phase of renovation, but now needs help funding replacement of old playground equipment.

A fundraising company pays the school by the pound for collected shoes, which then go to needy people in developing countries.

Through June 12, gently worn, used, or new shoes in all sizes and styles — men’s, women’s and children’s — can be donated, so long as the shoes have no holes or tears and that the soles are intact.

Shoes can be dropped off in the vestibule of St. Francis of Assisi Church (35 Norfield Road) or at the Weston Police Department.
