Drowning at Devil’s Glen
A 27-year-old man fishing in the river near Devil’s Glen in Weston drowned on Sunday evening, May 24. At press time, the name of the deceased has not been disclosed.
According to Weston Police, at about 6:21 pm the emergency dispatch center received a 911 call reporting the incident. Police officers and personnel from the Weston Volunteer Fire Department and Weston EMS responded and conducted a search.
When the initial search was unsuccessful, officials made a mutual aid request to the Norwalk Police Department’s scuba team, who arrived on the scene and located the victim at about 8:26 pm, 20 feet below the surface of the water.
Upon being brought to shore, the victim was treated by Weston EMS and transported to Norwalk Hospital. The Weston police are investigating the incident.
