Book Launch: From Woodstock to Wisdom
To those wondering what happens when the generation that once vowed to never trust anyone over 30 turns 80, Weston author Vicki Thomas has answers in a talk about her book, From Woodstock to Wisdom … A Boomer’s Journey to 80.
Ms. Thomas — herself a boomer turning 80 — debuts the book at the Weston Kiwanis Club meeting on Saturday, February 7. The meeting takes place in the Norfield Church Parish Hall, doors open at 8:30 am.
Ms. Thomas says her book “is a funny field guide for the Baby Boomer generation.” She says boomers “didn’t just come of age during a cultural revolution, we created one. Now, as we live longer than any generation before us, we’re at the center of a longevity revolution. This book is an invitation to show up, speak up, and stay engaged.”
Ms. Thomas says her talk on February 7 will be “a lively ride through decades,” describing how a generation has moved from peace marches and transistor radios to Medicare cards and titanium knees, from microbuses, bell bottoms and Ed Sullivan to computers, iPhones, WiFi and AI, and from free love to free shipping.
