Republican Caucus, July 15

Registered Weston Republican voters will caucus on Tuesday evening July 15 to endorse a slate of candidates for this year’s municipal elections.

The Republican Town Committee has already met, stating a preference to replace the party’s incumbent selectman, Kerem Dinlenc, with first-time candidate Lauren Traum.

At press time, Mr. Dinlenc has not publicly signaled whether he will seek a majority vote at the caucus to endorse his reelection, regardless of the RTC’s expressed preference.

Ms. Traum is new to Republican ranks, until very recently a registered Democrat. She is currently suing the Town of Weston to block the third phase of sidewalks, a section of with includes Old Hyde Road, where she resides.

The lawsuit, joined by other plaintiffs, claims the town doesn’t own Old Hyde Road and that her property line extends to its center line.

At some point in the next two years the Board of Selectmen will have to make decisions about construction. Design is well underway, 80 percent funded by a federal grant, the remainder already approved in prior year Town budgets.

About the caucus

The Republican caucus on the 15th takes place in the Town Hall Meeting Room at 7:30 pm. All currently registered Weston Republicans can participate and vote.

Bring a valid photo ID. A Registrar of Voters will be on hand to verify party registration.
