Steve Thomas Honored for Service

If it happens in Weston, the odds are Steve Thomas has a hand in it.
Mr. Thomas, who describes himself simply as a tradesman and carpenter, was named “Citizen of the Year” by the police commission on June 18.
A Weston resident for more than 40 years, Mr. Thomas is an active member of Weston Kiwanis and a key participant in the club’s community service activities, including food drives, Green Up days, and support for Homes for the Brave, a Bridgeport nonprofit that provides housing and services to help homeless veterans and others.
He is also a key figure at Lachat Town Farm, the go-to when something needs to be fixed or built, everything ranging from shelters for animals to seating for theatrical production at the farm.
Recipients of the police commission’s award are involved in programs, committees, or organizations that contribute to public safety or the quality of life in Weston.
