Officer Marc Pavelus, the latest addition to the Weston Police Department, was sworn in at a Town Hall ceremony on June 2.

Police Commission chair Dawn Egan introduced Officer Pavelus, saying his career in public service began at Domus, a Stamford nonprofit dedicated to reengaging and reconnecting young people by providing education and employment opportunities.

For eight years Officer Pavelus was a corrections officer at a Bridgeport juvenile detention center, then became a Stratford police officer, where he served for three years before joining the Shelton department.

Ms. Egan said Officer Pavelus’s career demonstrated “empathy, resilience, and professionalism.”

First Selectwoman Samantha Nestor administered the oath of office and offered “a warm welcome to Weston.”

An invocation was delivered by Rev. Dr. Bernard Wilson of Norfield Congregational Church followed by a benediction by Deacon Steve Hodson from St. Francis of Assisi.

Officer Pavelus’s family was present, and as is customary in Weston, his wife pinned the badge to his uniform. Pointing to the badge, Officer Pavelus said “I will hold this true,” and said he is “proud to be here, and grateful.”

Police Chief Ed Henion said Officer Pavelus has “particular skills,” proven by running “the gamut of interviews,” and was highly recommended by chiefs from his previous service.
