Girls Self-Defense Clinic, May 8

A free self-defense training clinic for girls in grades 6 to 12 takes place on Thursday evening, May 8 from 6:00 to 8:00.

The clinic, put on by Weston Human Services and the Weston Police, will be held in the Weston High School old gym. Students can attend with or without a parent or guardian. Registration for the session, limited to 40 participants, is done through the Parks and Recreation after-school program portal. Adults need not register.

The training, conducted by Weston Police Sgt. Rob Curcio and Officer Susan Clark, will focus on practical skills to enhance personal safety, situational awareness, de-escalation strategies, setting boundaries, and the importance of confidence and awareness. A hands-on section to learn basic self-defense skills is optional.
