Weston Boys Track Take 4th at SWCs

The Weston boys track team captured fourth place at the 2022 SWC conference championship, scoring a total of 86 points. New Milford took the team title with 126 points.

The team’s best result of the day 22 points scored in the triple jump. Nate Luchetta won the only gold medal for Weston with a leap of 41' 4.75" as Jack Haythorn (2nd) and Blake Braun (5th) added the additional points. Luchetta also took fourth place finishes in the long jump and high jump.

Pole vaulter Aaron Smith took second in the pole vault with his best jump of the year, 12' 6". Doug Phillips took sixth.

Haythorn enjoyed a fine day on the track, taking second in the 300 hurdles and third in the 110 hurdles. He also ran a leg on the second place 4x400 relay team, where he was joined by Braun, Rex Kaplan and Cooper Capola.

The 4x800 relay team of Capola, Cameron Miles, Luke Rubin and Antonio Maya-Lefort took fourth place with their best time of the year, 8:23.33.

Sophomore Miles recorded his best result of the year in the 3200 meters, taking fourth in 10:10.99. Kaplan took sixth in the 200 meters, Braun seventh in the 400 meters, while Capola (4th) and Rubin (7th) scored points in the 800 meters.

The state meet in New Britain is on Wednesday, June 1.
